The District Musical is open to students in grades 5th through 8th. The performance dates this year are May 19th and 20th, 2010 at 7:00pm in the Gurrie Gym. Our co-directors are Mrs. Kay and Mr. Wydra.
Announcements note about the Thurs. Matinee and call times for performancesA note was sent home today, May 12th about the Matinee performance and the call times for performances (it is also posted in "files" at the bottom of this website). Ideal, Hodgkins, and Seventh Ave. student need to turn in the permission slip for the bus to bring them over from their schools to Gurrie by this Friday, May 14th.
Announcing: "Once On This Island, Jr." Cast Party!!!To celebrate our efforts and successes, we would like to have a cast party on Friday, May 21, following our performances! The cast party will be held in Mrs. Kay's room at Spring from 3-5pm. Please provide your own rides. At the party, we will be serving pizza and soda. Get ready to play some games and mingle with your fellow cast members and directors!
If parents would like to volunteer in any way whether it be financially or with their baking skills, please contact Mrs. Kay, Mr. Wydra, or Mrs. Copp. We hope to see you ALL there! COSTUMES DUE!Cast,

missing script, extra CDsColin is missing his script, if you see his script (or anyone else's) laying around, please give it to Mrs. Kay or Mr. Wydra. Make sure your name is on your script.
If anyone has an extra CD or you see one laying around, please give it to Mrs. Kay or Mr. Wydra. Mia needs one. Memorize ALL of your parts and movement by Thurs. 4-29 rehearsalAll your singing, speaking, blocking, dancing, entrances and exits, etc. should be memorized by our Thurs. April 29th rehearsal. Keep bringing your script so you can write in any notes we give you but you must be able to do all your without your script in your hand.
Costumes - please finalize by next week at Wed. 4-28 or Thurs. 4-29 rehearsalBring any costume ideas that you have next week to either the Wed. 4-28 or the Thurs. 4-29. Please spread the word just in case someone doesn’t have e-mail, doesn’t check their e-mail regularly and/or wasn’t at rehearsal today. FIRST REHEARSAL - THURSDAY 3/18Hello Cast!!!
Mrs. Kay and Mr. Wydra are very excited to announce our first rehearsal this Thursday, March 18. The rehearsal will be after school in Mrs. Kay's room until 5pm. This rehearsal is intended for the cast to get together BEFORE Spring Break and do a read through of the script, so please bring yours! A more finalized rehearsal schedule will begin after our break. Call Backs Thank you to everyone who auditioned for this year’s District Musical “Once on this Island Jr.” We had a great turn out and everyone did a fantastic job. In fact, this is the largest and most talented turn out we’ve seen in long time. We appreciate your bravery, enthusiasm, and energy. EVERYONE who auditioned will be in the show singing, acting, and dancing. We have some ideas about who will play each role but we need to see a few of you again to determine how all the pieces fit together. If you know of someone who wanted to audition (or think should audition), please contact us right away.
We need to see the following people next Friday, March 5th (Gurrie students MP-5pm; Elementary students after school until 5pm). Let us know immediately if you can not come so that we can arrange another time to see you.
